Costume Diary: Gothic 1980s gown
This dress was a special order. I drafted the pattern.

Bodice & Sleeves
The bodice is fully lined, in the gown fabric rather than in lining fabric (per the client's request). I made sure to take the time to topstitch along the neckline to get it to lie flat. The gown is displayed on my dress form with a very full petticoat which I will use later on to make sure the hem is marked accurately.
The back of the gown is pinned in place since I cannot install the zipper until after I add the skirt:

The first version of the sash was too wide and I had to redo it. I also removed the pleating during the re-do, at the request of my client. Here are some pictures of the first sash (too large):
Because the goal is for this bow to be as large as possible I made the tails separately so they weight would not destroy the bodice. Here are the tails:
